TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE REQUEST FOR REGULATORY GUIDE 1.191, FIRE PROTECTION PROGRAM FOR NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS DURING DECOMMISSIONING AND PERMANENT SHUTDOWN Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.191, Fire Protection Program for Nuclear Power Plants during Decommissioning and Permanent Shutdown, is assigned to my branch as technical lead.
RG 1.191 is also in need of an update to incorporate National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 805, "Performance-Based Standard for Fire Protection for Light-Water Reactor Electric Generating Plants" (NFPA 805), which many licensees have adopted in lieu of their prior fire protection licensing basis. Although responsibility for reactor decommissioning does reside in my branch, we have no staff with appropriate expertise in fire protection needed for this update. Therefore, I am requesting your assistance in revising the content of RG 1.191 as appropriate and needed.
