SAFETY EVALUATION OF THE NUSCALE POWER, LLC, TOPICAL REPORT TR-0915-17564, REVISION 1, SUBCHANNEL ANALYSIS METHODOLOGY

Dear Dr. Corradini:

In its letter dated September 26, 2018, the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) reported on its safety review of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs safety evaluation report (SER) for the NuScale Power, LLC, Licensing Topical Report (TR)-0915-17564, Revision 1, Subchannel Analysis Methodology (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML18270A383). The ACRS concluded that TR-0915-17564 provides an acceptable methodology for performing steady-state and most transient and accident analyses, subject to the NRC staffs limitations and conditions, and that the staffs SER should be issued.

The NRC staff appreciates the ACRSs review and recommendation. The NRC staff plans to issue the SER by mid-January 2019.
