SUMMARY
OF THE AUGUST 28, 2018, PUBLIC MEETING DISCUSS THE NUCLEAR ENERGY INSTITUTE DRILL/EXERCISE PERFORMANCE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PERFORMANCE INDICATOR WHITEPAPER The Nuclear Energy Institute presented for discussion the draft Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) (ADAMS Accession Number ML18234A173). NRC staff had an opportunity to discuss the various aspects of the draft ROP FAQ and provided feedback for NEI and the industry to consider when developing a formal ROP FAQ for submission and review.
One of the key points of emphasis was that the staff considers all information on licensee Notification Forms to be important and that it should all be evaluated. However, the Drill/Exercise Performance (DEP) -Performance Indicator (PI) is intended to track only those items germane to emergency action level classifications and/or PAR decision-making thus it should be possible to limit the items of consideration for the DEP-PI as long as any other inaccuracy is appropriately evaluated and dispositioned.
