Instructions:

In accordance with the guidelines in Revision 11, of NUREG-1 021, Operator Licensing Examination Standards for Power Reactors, Duke Energy Progress, LLC, is providing the examination outlines supporting the dynamic simulator evaluations, which are scheduled to be administered during the week of December 11, 2017.

A list of the examination materials is provided in Enclosure 1. Copies of Examiner Standard Forms and Checklists are provided in Enclosure 2. Copies of Form ES-D-1 (i.e., simulator scenario outlines) for each scenario are provided in Enclosure 3. Enclosures 2 and 3 are being provided only to Mr. Daniel Bacon, the assigned NRC Chief Examiner.

In accordance with 10 CFR 55.40(b)(3), Mr. John Miller, as the designated authorized representative of the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Units 1 and 2, has approved the outline for the examinations of the applicant.

In accordance with Revision 11, of NUREG-1021, Section ES-201, Initial Operator Licensing Examination Process, please ensure that the outlines for the operating test are withheld from public disclosure until after the examinations are complete.

In accordance with the guidelines in Revision 11, of NUREG-1 021, Operator Licensing Examination Standards for Power Reactors, Duke Energy Progress, LLC, is providing the examination scenarios supporting the dynamic simulator evaluations, which are scheduled to be administered during the week of December 11, 2017.

A list of the examination materials is provided in Enclosure 1. Copies of Examiner Standard Forms and Checklists are provided in Enclosure 2. Current copies of Form ES-D-1 (i.e.,

simulator scenario outlines) and Form ES-D-2 (i.e., simulator scenarios) for each scenario are provided in Enclosure 3. Enclosures 2 and 3 are being provided only to Mr. Daniel Bacon, the assigned NRC Chief Examiner.

In accordance with 10 CFR 55.40(b)(3), Mr. John Miller, as the designated authorized representative of the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Units 1 and 2, has approved the outlines and scenarios for the examination of the applicant.

In accordance with Revision 11, of NUREG-1 021, Section ES-201, Initial Operator Licensing Examination Process, please ensure that the outlines and scenarios for the operating test are withheld from public disclosure until after the examinations are complete.

In accordance with the guidance contained in Revision 11 of NUREG-1021, Operator Licensing Standards for Power Reactors, ES-501, initial Post-Examination Activities, Duke Energy Progress, LLC (Duke Energy), is providing the NRC the specified documentation for the operator retake initial examination, which was administered at the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, and Thursday, December 14, 2017. Duke Energy does not have any post-examination comments.

Lastly, the original ES-201-3 form, Examination Security Agreement, with all the pre- and post-examination signatures will be provided via email, as confirmed with the NRC chief examiner on December 13, 2017.
