The purpose of the public meeting was to inform stakeholders of a revised option to improve the fuel facilities fee matrix and solicit feedback.
ATTENDEES:
A list of attendees is enclosed.
BACKGROUND:
On March 27, 2018, a public meeting was conducted to discuss the method used to calculate annual fees for fuel facilities and solicit input on potential changes to the method. Participants were requested to submit comments by April 27, 2018. A meeting summary is available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession Number ML18100A472.

DISCUSSION:
After the opening remarks, a slide presentation was made concerning changes made to the matrix of regulated areas. The changes addressed 2 significant issues - (1) the rationale for rating the effort in each regulated area, and (2) the basis for the numerical value of the effort factor. The slides are available in ADAMS at Accession Number ML18207A291.
RESULTS:
The NRC staff requested that comments in connection with this public meeting be submitted by August 8, 2018. After evaluating the comments, the NRC staff intends to prepare any recommendations on this issue to be included in the Commission paper for the FY19 proposed fee rule. Several participants stated that they intended to provide additional comments.
