50-250 and 50-251 Safe't In ecti'on Fl'ow Thrott'lin Your letter of June, 30, 1977 requested that we determine if throttle valves are used to obtain the required flow distribution in the Safety Injection (SI) system at Turkey Point.

We have surveyed the valves in the SI system and find that certain valves are positioned to prevent residual heat removal (RHR) pump runout during the post-accident recirculation phase.

The need for surveillance requirements for such valves is being reviewed.

Completion of the review is expected by October 15, 1977, at which time we will inform you of the results of our 'review and schedule any further action that needs to be taken.
