ACCEPTANCE REVIEW FOR BECHTEL QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM FOR NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS TOPICAL REPORT, BQ-TOP-1, 2007 EDITION, REVISION 003

Dear Mr. Rezk:

By letter dated July 31, 2018 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML18112A363), Bechtel Power Corporation (Bechtel) submitted for U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff review Bechtel Quality Assurance Program for Nuclear Power Plants Topical Report, BQ-Top-1, 2007 Edition, Revision 003. A copy of Revision 3 along with supporting information can be found in the ADAMS Package Accession No. ML18212A362.

The NRC staff has performed an acceptance review of Revision 3. We have found that the material presented is sufficient to begin our review. The NRC staff expects to issue its request for additional information by November 30, 2018, and issue its draft safety evaluation by May 29, 2019. This schedule information takes into consideration the NRCs current review priorities and available technical resources and may be subject to change. If modifications to these dates are deemed necessary, we will provide appropriate updates to this information.

The NRC staff estimates that the review will require approximately 100 hours0.00116 days <br />0.0278 hours <br />1.653439e-4 weeks <br />3.805e-5 months <br />, including project management and contractor effort. This estimate of hours includes the hours already expended on completing this acceptance review.

Section 170.21 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations requires that topical reports are subject to fees based on the full cost of the review. You did not request a fee waiver; therefore, the NRC staff hours will be billed accordingly.
