SUMMARY

OF PUBLIC MEETING On July 31, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the R. E; Ginna Nuclear Power Plant Training Building, Ontario, NY, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public open-house to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at the R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in 2017. The open house was held in conjunction with Exelons Community Night for R. E. Ginna.

A notice of the open-house was issued May 30, 2018, and posted on the NRCs external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML18151A071. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web page at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

The NRC presented poster boards and fact sheets, and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of the R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant for the period of January 1, 2017, through December 31, 2017, as documented in our letter dated February 28, 2018 (ADAMS Accession No. ML18058B292). The NRC poster boards and fact sheets included background on the Reactor Oversight Process. Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of the R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant can be found on the NRC's web site at: www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.

Members of the public, media, and local officials attended the open-house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding the R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plants performance, and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
