Dear Mr. Toelle:

By letter dated June 22, 2018 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System

[ADAMS] Accession Number ML18184A066), Centrus Energy Corporation (Centrus) submitted a request for U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) approval of SP-HQ-0008, Centrus Energy Corp. Headquarters Classified Administrative Thin Client System Security Control Security Plan and supporting document SP-HQ-0007, Baseline Security Controls &

Standards for Centrus Energy Classified Cyber Security Plans. The NRC staff, assisted by the U.S. Department of Energy staff, performed an acceptance review of your request to determine if it contains sufficient technical information to allow the staff of the two agencies to complete the detailed technical review.

The purpose of this letter is to advise you, based on the NRC staffs acceptance review, that the request contains technical information that is either insufficient or not needed to be submitted with the request. The deficiencies are addressed in the enclosed Request for Supplemental Information (RSI).

The NRC staff suggests a clarification teleconference to provide Centrus with the opportunity to discuss the RSIs and to establish a specific date that the supplemental information will be submitted to support the NRCs timely review.

Centrus also has the option to withdraw its request pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations 10 CFR Section 2.107 and resubmit it to address the deficiencies. Please note that an acceptance review will be conducted for future submittals (supplement to address the enclosure or resubmitted request).
