Tucson Gas 6 Electric Company supplies the entire electric and gas requirements in the City of Tucson'and the surrounding area and a small portion of Pinal County. It also supplies electric and gas service in certain rural areas of Pima County, extending about 50 miles north to south, electric service to Fort I(
Huachuca in Cochise
- County, and gas service to other rural areas served with electricity by an electric cooperative.
The Company estimates that over 427,000 people'=reside in its service area.
The certificated electric service, area encompasses 1155 square miles, and the certificated gas service area is approximately 4000 square miles.

$ 446,973,000 The financing by joint-applicant Tucson Gas Electric Company, of its share of the cost of construction of=
PVNGS Units 1, 2 and 3 and related facilities will be integrated into the financing of the Company's total construction program for all classifications of property.
For planning purposes the construction program is reviewed and established annually and projected for a period of five years.
The current con-struction program for the period 1974-1978 is shown in Table 3-1.
It is estimated for the years 1974-1978 that internal sources (i.e., retained earnings, depreciation, tax deferrals and con-tributions and advances from customers) will provide approxi-mately 22% of the funds required for construction purposes; and external sources will provide the balance.
The determination of the types and amounts of external sources to be used (i.e., short-term interim notes, mortgage
- bonds, debentures or other debt securities or preferred or common equity) is deter-mined from time to time as market conditions and the Company's circumstances warrant.
