Dear Hr. Denton:
a 5-I am presently undertaking
-a water study--of'tomic versus k~
coal plant water consumption.
I think that I have all of the vital information that is needed for the report,
~exec t we need information on how much the water consumption at an atomic plant varies when the capacity factor varies.
In other words, and to be more specific, Arizona Public Service Company is project manager of the Palo Verde atomic plant (three, and perhaps five, reactors 1270 net Kfe eachbeing built and. planned)

APS is projecting a 750/ average capacity factor for the reactors and an annual water consumption of 21,000 Jjof ~'l>t'g tioH$
acre-feet~.
I have been told. by several other engineers that water consumption does not vary as electrical production varies, on a 1:1 ratio.
Bury@8 Ske that I have talked to, and nowhere that l have read in the PSAR and EIS, have I 'been able to find. a criteria to determine how the water efficiency (gal./kMhe produced)'aries.
I would. greatly appreciate assistance on this subject.
