OF A PUBLIC MEETING WITH SOUTHERN NUCLEAR OPERATING COMPANY ON JUNE 8, 2018 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a Category 1 public meeting with Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) on June 8, 2018. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues associated with the safety review of licensing actions for SNCs Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP) Units 3 and 4. The meeting was held at the Vogtle Support Center, 7821 River Road, Waynesboro, Georgia 30830.
The meeting notice can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession No. ML18156A460. The meeting notice is also posted on the NRC public website. Enclosures 1 and 2 are the meeting agenda and attendance list for the meeting, respectively. The other documents referenced during the discussion can be found at the ADAMS Accession Nos. given below:

J. Dixon-Herrity Summary of Meeting:
On June 8, 2018, staff from the NRC conducted a public meeting with representatives from SNC to discuss issues associated with the safety review of licensing actions for SNCs VEGP Units 3 and 4. Specifically, the meeting discussed draft RAI responses and related matters regarding LAR 17-037.
Regarding SNCs May 22, 2018, draft response to RAI LAR 17-037-6, SNC clarified two points in response to staff questions and indicated it would make appropriate edits to the RAI response:
Regarding SNCs original LAR submittal dated December 21, 2018, the staff requested SNC discuss at a future public meeting any evaluations it had performed using the proposed screening criteria, in addition to the ones included in Enclosures 6 and 7 of the original submittal.
Regarding SNCs May 25, 2018, draft response to RAI LAR 17-03-2, SNC indicated that, based on their experience from the recently concluded onsite audit, it planned to provide a revised draft response.
At the end of each topic discussed and before closing the open portion of the meeting, there was an opportunity for the public to provide comments and ask questions.
