SUBJECT:
EMERGENCY OPERATING PROCEDURE (EOP) INSPECTION PROGRAM This is to advise you of a special inspection initiative that is being performed at operating reactors.
It will include an inspection to be performed at your Surry site. The initiative is entitled the 11EOP Inspection Program."
The purpose of the inspection is to verify that the EOPs are technically accurate; that specified a.ctions can be meaningfully accomplished using existing equipment, controls, and instrumentation; and that the available procedures have the usability necessary to provide the operator with an effective operating tool~
The inspection program is a team* inspection.
The inspection team should include two or three reactor inspectors, a licensing examiner, a human factors specialist, and the Surry senior resident inspector.
The inspection is scheduled for April 9-20, 1990.
The team leader for this inspection will be Mr. R. Schin from Region II.
Mr. Schin will contact members of your staff in the near future to discuss the details of the inspection.
If you have any questions in the interim regarding the inspection program, we will be pleased to discuss them with you.
