SURRY UNITS 1 AND 2 - SAFETY EVALUATION MASONRY WALL DESIGN, IE BULLETIN 80-11, (TAC NOS. 42867 AND 42868)
We have completed our review of your May 12, 1989 response to IE Bulletin 80-11, Masonry Wall Design.
Our evaluation has concentrated on the validation of a number of masonry walls identified in the staff's original Safety Evaluation for IE Bulletin 80-11.
By letter dated May 12, 1989 you identified eight walls with specific identification numbers and actual boundary conditions.
In add*ition, a staff visit to Surry_, Units 1 and 2 on July 20, 1989 confirmed the data and conditions provided in your May 12, 1989 submittal.
Our evaluation finds the subject masonry walls to be acceptable and our Safety Evaluation is provided as the enclosure to this letter.
We find the original issues of the Surry, Units 1 and 2 response to IE Bulletin 80-11 to be resolved and therefore acceptable.
Based on the above, we are closing Technical Assignment Control (TAC)
Numbers 42867 and 42868.
A copy of this letter and the enclosure will be sent to Reg ion II.
