SURRY UNITS 1 AND 2, AND NORTH ANNA UNITS 1 AND 2 - USE OF VIRGINIA POWER TOPICAL REPORT VEP-NE-3, 11QUALIFICATION OF THE WRB-1 CHF CORRELATION IN THE VIRGINIA POWER COBRA CODE 11 (TAC NOS. 67363, 67364, 71071 AND 71072)
By letter dated January 29, 1987, you requested approval of the above subject Topical Report VEP-NE-3 to use the WRB-1 correlation to perform Departure from Nucleate Boiling Ratio analyses for the Surry and North Anna Power Stations.
Based on our review, with assistance from our consultant, Pacific Northwest Laboratories, we conclude that the VEP-NE-3 Topical Report is acceptable for application at the Surry and North Anna Power Stations with the constraints 2
that the critical heat fluxes shall not exceed 1.0 MBtu/hr-ft and that the minimum grid spacing shall be 13 inches or greater.
