CONFIRMATION Of ACTiON LETTER - SURRY POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 This letter refers to your submittal of October 19, 1988, and the meeting in Rockville, Maryland on October 26, 1988, concerning several recent events and inspection findings for.the Surry Nuclear Power Station.

In your submittal (Serial No.88-369), you identified four issues as restart items that must be resolved prior to restart of either unit. These restart items are:

1.

Safety System Functional Inspection (SSFI) Findings

2.

Secondary Pipe Thinning

3.

Emergency Diesel Generator Testing and Modifications

4.

Adequacy of Control Room and Emergency Relay Room Air Conditioning As a result of the October 26 meeting, you also committed to complete your investigation and take appropriate corrective actions with regard to your recent findings of indications in Class 1 piping socket welds, the potential for the charging pumps to become gas bound, and satisfactorily complete testing of the inside recirculation spray pumps.

It is our understanding that prior to restart of either Surry unit, all of the analyses, investigations, and coirective actions for the above seven issues which you have corrmitted to will be completed.

If your understanding is different, please contact this office promptly.
