SURRY ISSUES REQUIRING FOLLOWUP ACTION This letter refers to our telephone conversation of October 7, 1988, concerning recent events at your Surry Power Station t~at*have identified a number of signi"ficant 'i"ssues which must be* addressed during the current shutdown-of Units 1 and 2.. these issues are broadly categorized ~s follows:
- 1.
Safety System Functional Inspection issues, as discussed with you at the September 30, 1988, exit briefing
- 2.
Main feedwater pipe wall thinning issues *
- 3.
Emergency Diesel Generator operability issues
- 4.
Control room envelope vent1lation system issues As we agreed, pl ease submit to us by October '19, 1988, a 1 etter describing your plans and schedules for resolving each of the issue categories listed above.
Your schedules should hi"ghlight major milestones, including submittals to the staff.
We will then meet with you at the Surry site on October 26, 1988, to discuss implementation of your plan_s and corrective actions.
Based upon the.
commitments and understandings agreed upon at that meeting, we will then-document those actions required prior to restart of either unit.
Please note that the issues addressed in this letter are in addition to the refueling cavity seal leakage issues covered in our Confirmation of Action,.
