OF APRIL 25, 2018, CLOSED PRE-SUBMITTAL MEETING WITH FRAMATOME INC.TO DISCUSS THE FORTHCOMING Z4BTM MATERIAL TOPICAL REPORT (EMF-93-177, REVISION 1, SUPPLEMENT 2P, REVISION 1)
On April 25, 2018, a closed pre-submittal meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and Framatome Inc. (Framatome) to discuss the purpose of, content of, and submittal plans for forthcoming Topical Report (TR) EMF-93-177, Revision 1, Supplement 2P, Revision 1, Mechanical Design for BWR Fuel Channels: Z4BTM Material.
Framatome will seek approval of the Z4B material so that the industry safety issue of control blade interference due to fuel channel distortion can be addressed. The Z4B material improves resistance to abnormal fuel channel bow.
During the meeting, Framatome informed the NRC staff of the objectives of the TR, its content, the relationship with other TRs, the Z4B material composition, the Z4B properties, and the Z4B irradiation experience. Framatome also proposed a schedule to submit, review, and approve the TR.
