50-281 DPR-32 DPR-37 This supplemental response provides further details and updated information regarding corrective actions taken at our Surry station in the area of radioactive waste cla3sification.
As stated in our original response dated September 12,
- 1985, a
re-evaluation of waste sample analysis results was conducted to improve scaling factors used for waste classification.
The attached report provides a discussion of the methodology used and the results obtained for this evaluation.
The computer program used for routine waste classification has been updated with the new scaling factors and verified by comparison to manual calculations. Additional~y, procedural revisions have been completed to provide improved guidance for computer generation of waste classification and shipment manifests.
As additional waste sample analysis data becomes available, and at least.
annually, waste stream scaling factors will be re-evaluated and modified as necessary.
The methodology used for future scaling factor development will be selected to ensure acceptable correlation accuracy, as defined by regulatory guidance.
