Site: SALEM Emergency Class: NON EMERGENCY At approximately 10:44 on 5/21/2018 a live Atlantic Sturgeon was removed from the Salem Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake Fish counting pool at the Salem Generating Station. A report was made by Environmental licensing to the National Marine Fisheries at 0923 EDT and NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife at 1153 EDT concerning the Atlantic Sturgeon. The sturgeon was released back to the Delaware River at 1138 EDT.
Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this event warrants a 4 hr report to the NRC under RAL 11.8.2.a.
The licensee notified, the NRC Resident Inspector, and the Bureau of Nuclear Engineering for New Jersey and will notify the Lower Alloways Creek Township.
