SUMMARY
OF APRIL 24, 2018, CLOSED MEETING WITH FRAMATOME INC. REGARDING THE PLAN FOR THE RESUMPTION OF THE REVIEW OF TOPICAL REPORT ANP-10323P, FUEL ROD THERMAL MECHANICAL METHODOLOGY FOR BOILING WATER REACTORS AND PRESSURIZED WATER REACTORS On April 24, 2018, a closed meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and Framatome Inc. (Framatome, formerly AREVA Inc.)
representatives to discuss the plan and schedule for resuming the review of Topical Report (TR) ANP-10323P. The TR was submitted for review and approval in August 2013. In November 2015, Framatome discovered a stability issue with the GALILEO code used in the TR. Framatome requested that the NRC halt its review until the issue could be resolved.
During the meeting, Framatome informed the NRC staff of the resolution of the code stability issue and additional changes to the TR. Framatome laid out a schedule to submit the revised TR and for addressing the NRC staffs request for additional information.
