SUMMARY
- DOCKET NOS. 50-280 AND 50-281 This letter refers to the meeting conducted at your request in the NRC Region II office on November 9, 1984.
The meeting related primarily to the 10 CFR 50.48 and 10 CFR 50 Appendix R Fire.Protection reanalysis for the Surry Facility.
Also discussed was VEPCO's proposed interim collection arrangement and asso-ciated compensatory measures for the Unit 1 reactor cool ant pump oi 1 1 eak collection capability. Enclosed is a summary of the meeting topics.
It is our opinion that this meeting was beneficial, and provided for a better understanding of the NRC's Fire 'Protection requirements and VEPCO's Appendix R reanalysis effort.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of NRC's "Rules of Practice", Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and the Enclosure will be placed in NRC's Public Document Room.

DPR-32 and DPR-37 A management meeting was held in the NRG Region II office on November 9, 1984, to discuss VEPC0 1s 10 CFR 50.48 and 10 CFR 50 Appendix R Fire Protection reanalysis effort for the Surry facility.
The major items discussed in these areas are as follows:
Appendix R reanalysis completion schedule; Appendix R reanalysis modifications and their schedule for completion; requests for exemptions; modifi-cations for which completion may not meet current commitments, reasons and justifications for the delay, projected completion schedules, and compensatory measures.
Additionally, at this meeting VEPCO presented an outline of their proposal for an interim oil leak collection arrangement for a Unit 1 reactor coolant pump for one cycle of operation.
This proposal will be formally submitted to the Region at a later date.
