VIRGINIA POWER Serial No.85-008 E&C:SNK:klh:2012N Docket Nos: 50-280 50-281 License Nos: DPR-32 DPR-37 SURRY POWER STATION NOS. 1 AND 2 NUREG 0612 - CONTROL OF HEAVY LOADS PHASE II In Item 2.2.3 of our September 28, 1984 letter (Serial No. 336), we stated that we were performing a drop analysis of the transfer canal door onto the
~pent fuel racks and that the results of that analysis would be submitted to you.
The analysis has been completed and the results are as follows:
We have reviewed the report and have concluded that the overall integrity of the spent fuel racks, as well as the fuel pool floor, is maintained and the leak tightness of the liner is not compromised.
We believe that this analysis satisfies the evaluation criteria of NUREG-0612, Section 5.1.2.
The report, entitled 11 The Transfer Canal Door Drop Analysis for Surry Units 1 and 2 (NES Report No. 83A1040, Revision 2) 11
, is available in the corporate office for review.
Our letter also stated that a new transfer canal door storage rack will be installed for the Unit 2 transfer door.
This transfer door storage rack has been designed and is scheduled to be installed prior to the movement of the transfer door during the upcoming Unit 2 refueling.
