By letter dated November 23, 1983, you requested that we remove the 37,000 MWD/MTU burnup restriction stated in the NRC Safety Evaluations associated with Amendment Nos. 73, 74, 36, and 16 for both units at Surry and North Anna Power Stations, respectively.
We have reviewed your request and have concluded that it is appropriate to raise the restriction to 45,000 MWD/MTU, but not remove it entirely.
Our Safety Evaluation is enclosed.
Please note that this restriction assumes that the fuel management scheme continues to provide the limiting location in fuel at the beginning of the second cycle of irradiation.
