This is in response to your letter to me of September 17, 1982 discussing emer-gency exercise issues.
Your letter expressed your support for the reduction in the exercise frequency requirements for state and local agencies and indicated that there might be some misunderstanding as to the current requirements in this area.
Based on conversations with my staff on September 28, 1982 subsequent to their conversations with you earlier on that day, it is my understanding that! ________ l existing requirements have been discussed with you.
With regard to a reauctfon-in exercise frequency, we sincerely appreciate your concerns.
Be advised that this is an issue that has been presented to the Commission on several occasions, and we expect that additional consideration will be given to this issue in the near future.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is also well aware of this issue.
