SUBJECT:
SUMMARY
OF JUME 4, 1982 MEETING WITH VEPCO TO DISCUSS FILTER SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS On Friday, aune 4, 1982, a meeting was held between representatives of the NRC, VEPCO and Stone and Webster to discuss proposed Technical Speci-fications related to the Surry auxiliary building and control room filter systems.
A list of attendees is attached.
The NRC has reviewed VEPCO's proposed Technical Specifications which were submitted on January 29, 1982.
Several items of the proposed Technical Specifications remained to be resolved before the meeting and the following comments reflects agreements reached during the meeting:

\\
VEPCO will change the flow rate for the Auxiliary Ventilation Exhaust Filter Trains to be 36,000 cfm +/-r 10% in T.S. 3.22:?/t;l:.
For the l\\uxil iary Building ventilation exhaust filter trains 3 a separate flow rate test-will not be required following painting, fire, or chemical release in any ve~tilation zone communicating with the system.
T.S.
4-.12.l\\.l will be modified to reflect this.
VEPCO will provide an analysis which will show that the maximum dose insult to a control room operator occurs at a makeup flow rate of 750 cfm and wil 1 provide doses for the range of 750 cfm ~:;11000 cfm.
This will allow establishment of flow rate for T.S. 3.23~1,V:l'..
i The NRC 'will accept a laboratory analysis for methyl radioiodine-131 removal based on a relative humidity of AO% if VEPCO provides an analysis showing that the maximum relative humidity the auxiliary !Juilding filter trains would see would be 80%.
This would be reflected in T.S. 3.22.A.5.

VEPCO will propose inlet concen-trations.
NRC staff indicated that 96% removal efficiency would be acceptable for the auxiliary builrling filter trainscharcoal and 97%
for the control room fi1te-r;~train.charcoal.
VEPCO will review the acceptability of the latter.
VEPCO will review the removal efficiency for the control room to detennine if it should be 95% or 90% as reported in two different instances.
