This is to advise you that the Ccxnmissi~n (with Chair.nan Ahearne and Corrnissioners Kennedy and Mencirie non-concurring).dic not agree with the General Counsel 1s recolltilendation that the Cor:tiiission defer action on the decision of the Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulatio::.
Inste.ac, tr.ey agreed ~ith the Director's position on this matter, as stated ir; r.is letter to Ms. June Allen of November 29, 1979.
The Comr.,ission desires that the NRC staff forward Ms. Allen's request to the Department of Energy (DO:) f~r its cc1siceration.
It also desires that the staff inform Ms. Allen tha~ :he Coli!71~ssio~ supports the Director's position,
- that *NRC has forwarded her r:quest tc JO~, and that N?.::: wi 11 be.conducting an informal review of DOE's e..~vironrr.~ntal assessment.
