REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SURRY UNITS l AND 2 DEGRADED GRID VOLTAGE E'LOSURE..

1.

Degraded voltage protection is not provided between 80-90% of nominal voltage. Sustained voltage, even.for a short period qf time9 within this range may cause damage to electrical equipment.

Present an analysis that supports your design of not having protection within this range; or provide appropriate protection between 80-90% of nominal voltage.

2.

Describe the s~quence of events, fsuch as lo~d shedding, bus de-energization, load sequencing, etc.) *;f, while on onsite power, the onsite power source is interrupted. Describe the reinstatement or basis for no reinstatement of load shedding,._

3.

Describe how the IEEE Std. 279-1971 requirements are satisfied in the design of the voltage monitors of second-level protection.

4.

Submit a proposed change to the Surry Units l and 2 Technical Specifications including test schedule for channel check, calibration, and functional testing..
