SUBJECT:
G. Lainas, Chief, Plant Systems Branch, DOR SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT - SURRY NUCLEAR POvJER.
PLANT, UNITS l AND 2 - EVALUATION OF SAFETY INJECTION SYSTEM ACTUATION TECHNIC/-'.L SPECIFICATION CHANGE REQUEST (TACS 12010 AND 12011)
The Pl ant Syst_ems Branch has reviewed the Virginia Electric and Power Company 1s submittal of August 8, 1979, in which tne licensee pequested amendments to Facility Operating Licenses DPR-32 and DPR-37 to incorporate changes to the Technical Specifications for the-Surry*Power Station, Units l and 2.- The proposed changes are the result of IE Bulletin No.79-06A dated April 14*9 1979.
The amendments propose changes to the Technical Specifications which relate to modifications to the Safety Inject*ion (SI) actuation system logic. The proposed change requests that safety injection be initiated from only low pressurizer pressure using a two-out-of..:three logic thus eliminating aJl dependancy on pressurizer level for SI protection.
Based on our review, we conclude that the modffications to the SI
. actuation system logic satisfy the requirements of IEEE Std. 279-1971
- and that the associttep Technical Specifications are correct; and
.therefore, are acceptable.
Our Safety Evaluation Report is enclosed.
