By letters dated December 6 and December 23, 1977, you requested approval from NRC to continue using the Defens~ Apparel air hood curr~nt)y being used by you at Surry Power Station and th~ North Anna Power Stati.on.
i~e discussed with Mr. Wayne Cameron in several telephone conversations that since respiratory devices are tested and approved by NIOSH/MESA, the air hood that you proposed to use should.be submitted to that testing agency for approval.
NRC approval would then automatically be granted under Regulatory-Guide 8.15, Section C.5 when NIOSH/MESA approves the air hood.
t~e were informed by Mr. Cameron on March 9, 1979, that you-had submitted the air hood to NIOSH/MESA and had approval to use it. Since this hood is now approved by NIOSH, we conclude that this matter requires no further action.
