1.

Description of Event

During normal operation, a channel check revealed th~t Pressurizer Pressure Channel I drifted above the Technical Specification limit as compared to Channels II and III.

This drift would have resulted. in reactor protection signals from this channel of 5-psi *below set points delineated in Tech. Spec. 3.7.

This event is reportable per'--Tech. Spec.

6.6.2.b.l.

2, Probable Conseequences:

Immediate corrective action taken was to place the Pressurizer Pressure (Protection) Channel I and the Overtemperature Delta T Channel I in the trip mode.

This provided all affected systems with the required degree of redundancy.

Because the necessary actions were taken to maintain the r.equired instrument operating conditions, the health and safety of the general public were not affected.

3.

Cause

The event was caused by failure of the pressure transmitter.

4,

Immediate Corrective Action

Immediate corrective action taken was to place the Pressurizer Pressure (Protection) Channel I and the Overtemperature Delta T Channel I in the trip mode.

5.

Subsequent Corrective Action:

The pressure transmitter was replaced, tested and the channels returned to normal mode.

6.

Action Taken to Prevent Recurrence:

This failure is considered a random event, therefore no further action will be taken.

7.

Generic Implications:

Since this is considered a random failure, ther~ are no generic-~~

implications.
