Dear Mr. Eisenhut:

Docket Nos:

50-280 50-281 License Nos:

DPR-32 DPR-37

Subject:

Environmental Qualification-Continental Instrument Cable Surry Power Station Unit Nos. 1 and 2 This is in response to your letter of September 14, 1978 which requested the performance of environmental qualification testing on the Continental Instrument Cable in use at Surry Power Station.

The requested testing has been completed.

Test results are enclosed.

The test was completed in accordance with the test procedure forwarded in our letter of September 29, 1978.

Cable performance was well within the acceptance criteria for both the simulated loss of coolant and steam break accident conditions.

These results confirm our initial contention that the subject cable will perform satisfactorily under accident conditions.

Enclosure Very truly yours, C. M. Stallings Vice President-Power Supply and Production Operations
