Dear Administrator Miller:
December 12, 1997 This letter is to acknowledge receipt of a letter sent to you by Mr. Kyran Connor, Office of County Counsel, County of Cape May, New Jersey, on behalf of the Cape May County Board of Freeholders, regarding the restart of Unit 1 at Salem Nuclear Generating Station.
Mr. Connor raises several concerns in connection with the restart of Unit I which the NRC will soon address. I appreciate the Cape May County Board of Freeholders' deep concern for this issue and realize that nuclear safety is a pressing issue for many residents in Southern New Jersey. I have closely monitored the restart and operation of Unit 2 and I am currently monitoring preparations for the restart of Unit 1.
I offer any assistance I can provide to address the concerns of all involved parties as I continue to monitor the progress at Salem 1 & 2. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
