REVISED RESPONSE TO NRC NOTICE OF VIOLATION INSPECTION REPORT 50-272/95-81, 50-311/95-81 SALEM GENERATING STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 In letter dated February 29, 1996, (LR-N96030) Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) committed to evaluate and revise the Emergency Preparedness continuing training.
Specifically, PSE&G stated:
"The Emergency Preparedness continuing training program for Operations Department shift personnel will be evaluated, and improvements will be implemented as necessary.
Identified improvements will be in place by December 31, 1996."
The improvements to the Emergency Preparedness continuing training were pending approval of the newly revised NUMARC based Event Classification Guide (ECG).
Approval has just been granted on December 19, 1996.
However, revisions to the ECG will need to be captured in the job analysis and associated training material.
Therefore, PSE&G will need an additional 31 days to implement identified training program improvements.
In accordance with PSE&G's commitment management program and the Nuclear Energy Institute guidelines for managing commitments, PSE&G is hereby notifying the NRC that PSE&G is modifying the commitment completion date from December 31, 1996 to January 31, 1997.
Should there be any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
