By letter LR-N96264, dated August 27, 1996, Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) submitted a request to amend the Operating License for Salem Unit 2 and the Technical Specifications for Salem Units 1 and 2. This letter provides a supplement to that request.

The requested change to the Salem Unit 2 facility operating license deleted license condition 2.C(24) (a) Shift Manning and incorporated controls on the use of overtime into the Salem Units 1 and 2 Technical Specifications Administrative Controls Section.

PSE&G is revising the wording associated with the control of overtime.

The revised wording will delete the reference to Generic Letter 82-12 and require administrative contro'is be established which will ensure adequate shift coverage is maintained without routine heavy use of overtime. In addition, the revised specification will require authorization in advance by the General Manager -

Salem Operations or his designee for any deviations from the overtime guidelines. The guidelines will require monthly review of overtime to ensure that excessive hours have not been

The proposed change to.the Salem Unit 2 operating license is not affected by this supplement.

Technical Specifications. These pages supersede previously provided marked up pages for the Administrative Controls Section.
