SALEM GENERATING STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 FACILITY OPERATING LICENSES DPR-70 AND DPR-75 DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311i SAFETY INJECTION PUMP FIRE BARRIER This letter provides notification of a change in a commitment made by Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G) regarding fire barriers between safety injection pumps-for the Salem Generating Station.
PSE&G committed to install a three hour fire rated barrier between the safety injection pumps by letter dated September 8, 1978.
The initial safe shutdown analysis nor* any revisions up to and including the current analysis do not include the safety injection pumps as equipment required for safe shutdown.
Therefore, a fir~ barrier between redundant safety injection pumps is not reqtd,red and has not been installed under 10CFR50 Appendix R, section III.G Should there be any questions regarding this submittal, please do not hesitate to contact us.
