This letter refers to the announced safety inspection conducted by Ms. Laurie
Peluso of this office on July 31-August 4, 1995 of activities authorized by NRC
License Nos. DPR-70, DPR-75, and NPF-57 at the Salem and Hope Creek Generating
Stations, Hancocks Bridge, N.J. and at the Research and Testing Laboratory,
Maplewood, N.J., and to the discussions of our findings held by_Ms. Peluso with
Mr. DiGuiseppi and other members of your staff.
Areas examined in this inspection are important to public health and safety, and
are described in the NRC Region I Inspection Report which is enclosed with this
letter.
~ithin these areas, the inspection tonsisted of selective examinations
of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and
observations by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection, you had in place effective Radiological
Environmental Monitoring and Meteorological Monitoring Programs.
No safety
concerns or violations of regulatory requirements were observed and no response
to this lettei is required. *
