By letter dated January 18, 1995, you requested approval to use alternatives to the 1989 Edition of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers {ASME)
Section III Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
Specjfically, you requested approval to weld repair SA-351, Grade CD4MCu material, which currently is not permitted by Section II I of the 1989 Ed it ion of the ASME Code.
The NRC staff has reviewed your submittal and concludes that welding of SA-351, Grade CD4MCu material for the Service Water pumps at the Salem and Hope Creek Units is authorized, pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a{a){3){i).
