RESOLUTION OF GENERIC LETTER 93-04, "ROD CONTROL SYSTEM FAILURE AND WITHDRAWAL OF ROD CLUSTER CONTROL ASSEMBLIES, 10 CFR 50.54(f),"

SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 (TAC NOS. M86863 AND M86864)

Dear Mr. Eliason:

By letters dated July 29, 1993, September 21, 1993, and January 27, 1995, you responded to Generic Letter (GL) 93-04.

In your response, you stated that you have already implemented the current order timing modification and the new current order surveillance test recommended by the Westinghouse Owners Group on Salem Unit Z and will implement these changes on Salem Unit 1 during the next refueling outage which is scheduled to begin in April, 1995.

You also stated that this new surveillance will be performed every refueling outage thereafter.

The NRC staff has reviewed the corrective actipns and schedules that you have committed to in response to GL 93-04 and found them acceptable.

Please inform us in writing when implementation is complete, or if your plans for implementing the modification and surveillance testing change. This completes our review of this matter.
