REQUEST FOR PROPRIETARY REVIEW, SAFETY EVALUATION FOR ADVANCED DIGITAL FEEDWATER CONTROL SYSTEM, SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 (TAC NOS. M85782 AND M85783)
Enclosed is the draft safety evaluation (SE) for the approval to delete the steam/feedwater flow mismatch and low steam generator water level reactor trip as described in the Technical Specifications 2.2 Limiting Safety System Settings, and 3/4.1.1 Reactor Trip System Instrumentation.
The staff's review included review and evaluation of proprietary documents on the Westinghouse Median Signal Selector (MSS).
The staff requests that Public Service Electric and Gas Company review this draft SE for propriety material only. Also, PSE&G is requested to obtain Westinghouse review of the draft SE, if PSE&G determines that Westinghouse review is,n~cessary. If you believe that there is any proprietary information in the* enclosure, please identify such information line by line and identify the basis pursuant to the criteria of 10 CFR 2.790.
Please provide a written response within 60 days from the date of this letter. This requirement affects 9 or fewer respondents and, therefore is not subject to Office of Management and Budget review under P.L.96-511.
