CLOSE OUT OF FINDINGS OF PREVIOUS EROSION/CORROSION
INSPECTION AT SALEM UNIT 1 AND HOPE CREEK
REGION I COMBINED INSPECTION REPORT
- 50-272/311/93-17 AND 50-354/93-15
This letter refers to the announced inspection intended to promote. public health and safety
conducted by Mr. P. Patnaik of this office, from May 24-28, 1993, at the Salem Nuclear
Generating Station Unit 2 in Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey. Mr. Patnaik discussed the
findings with your staff on May 28, 1993, at the conclusion of the inspection.
The inspection included a review of the eddy current examination program and the upgraded
erosion/corrosion monitoring program implemented during* the seventh refueling outage of
Salem Unit 2. The inspection also focused on your corrective and preventive actions to
Notice of Deviations associated with Salem Unit 1 and Hope Creek Erosion/Corrosion
Monitoring Program.
Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of. procedures and
representative records inter\\Tiews with personnel and observations by the inspector. The
Notice of Deviation and unresolved items of previous inspections of Salem Unit 1 and Hope
Creek were closed out based on the results of this inspection. The* new erosion/corrosion
program was found to be satisfactory.*
