INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-272/93-09 AND 50-311/93-09
This refers to the safety inspection conducted by Mr. R. A. McBrearty of this office on
March 29, 1993, to April 2, 1993, at Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey. The results were
discussed with Mr. C. A. Vondra of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I inspection report
which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective
examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel and
observations by the inspector. The inspection focused on the inservice inspection program
and its implementation at Salem Unit 2. Program implementation inspections are used to
determine that programs you have in place to detect inservice degradation confirm the plant's
acceptability for continued safe operation and satisfy your commitments and regulatory
requirements. We found your program implementation satisfactory, and no violations were
observed.
