This letter refers to the inspection conducted by Ms. Laurie Peluso of this office on
January 11-15, 1993, of activities authorized by NRC License Nos. DPR-70, DPR-75, al_!d -
NPF-57 at the Salem and Hope Creek Site; Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey, and at the
PSE&G Research and Testing Laboratory, Maplewood, N.J., and fo the discussion of our
. findings held -by Ms.* L. P~luso with Mr. L. Miller and other members of your staff at the
condusion of the inspection.* *
Areas examined during this insp~tion, involving your. RadiOlogical Environmental *
Monitoring Program; are important to public health and safety and are described* in the NRC
Region I Inspection Report, which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, th_e
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records,
interviews with personnel, and* independent observations *by the inspector ...
_Within the scope of this inspection, we noted_ that members of the Radiation Protection/
Chemistry Services have maintained very good* implementation of the Radiological
Environm~ntal Monitoring Program. No _safety concerns or violations of regulatory.
