Combined Inspection Report Nos. 50-272/92-18 and 50-311/92-18
This letter refers to the safety inspection conducted by Dr. Jason C. Jang and Ms. Laurie
Peluso of this office.on November 16-17, 1992, of activities authorized by NRC License
Numbers DPR-70 and DPR-75, and to the discussions of our findings held by Dr. Jang and
Ms. Peluso with Mr. V. Polizzi and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the
inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region* I Inspection Report
which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective
examinations of procedures and representative records~ interviews with personnel, and
observations by the inspectors.
Within the scope of this inspection, we noted that the Chemistry Department staff had
excellent knowledge of the radioactive liquid and gas~us effluent control programs. Also,
the completion of the short-term project for the radiation monitoring system* (RMS) was
noteworthy. No safety concerns or violations of regulatory requirements were identified.
