Subject: Region I Inspection Report No. 50-311191-32
Thi~ refers to the safety inspection intended to promote public health and safety conducted by
Mr. P. Patnaik. of this office from December 17 to December 20, 1991, at the Salem Nuclear
Generating Station Unit No. 2 in Hancocks Bridge, NJ. Mr. Patnaik discussed the findings
with your staff on December 20, 1991, at the conclusion of the inspection .
This inspection covered a review of data on the December 1991 eddy current examination of
the steam generator tubes and the inservice inspection of the steam generator vessel. These
are discussed in the enclosed inspection report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted
of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel
and observations by the inspector. Within the scope of this inspection, no.violations were
observed and, therefore, no response to this letter is required. - Your cooperation with us in
this matter is appreciated.
