SUBJECT:
WITHDRAWAL OF CLOSEOUT OF BULLETIN 90-01, 11 LOSS OF FILL-OIL IN TRANSMITTERS MANUFACTURED BY ROSEMOUNT 11
, SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNIT NO. 1 (TAC NO. 76605)
Your letter dated July 18, 1990, responded to Bulletin 90-01 for the Salem and Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations. Your response stated that Salem Unit 1 does not have any Rosemount transmitters from the manufacturing lots identified by Rosemount as having a high failure rate due to loss of fill-oil, installed in either safety-related systems or systems installed in accordance with 10 CFR 50.62 (ATWS Rule).
The NRC letter of July 24, 1991, stated that the July 18, 1990, letter provided an adequate basis to consider NRC 1 s review to be complete. That statement did not consider the fact that Salem 1 had 117 transmitters manufactured prior to July 11, 1989, installed in safety-related systems or systems installed in accordance with 10 CFR 50.62. Because of these additional transmitters,Bulletin 90-01 cannot be closed at this time.
We regret any inconvenience this has caused.
