Subject: Inspection Report Nos. 50-272/91-12; 50-311/91-12 and 50-354/91-09
This letter refers to the routine safety inspection of the Hope Creek station fire prevention
and protection program and of Salem Station Appendix R, m.G modifications. This
inspection was conducted by Mr. R. Paolino of this office on April 15-19, 1991 at the Salem
Generating Station, Units 1&2, and the Hope Creek Generating Station located in Lower
Alloways Township, New Jersey, of activities authorized by NRC License Nos. DPR-70;.
DPR-75 and NPF-50. This letter also refers to the Licensee/NRC management telephone
conference on April 23, 1991, and the NRC review of subsequent licensee submittals dated
April 24, 1991 and May 8, 1991. The results of this inspection were discussed with
Mr. C. Vondra and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Specific areas examined during this inspection are identified in the report. Within these
areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative
records, interviews with personnel, observations and verification of completed related
activities; including surveillance, testing, and maintenance of fire protection equipment;
brigade training, drills and documentation.
