This letter refers* to the routine inspection conducted by Messrs. P. Patnaik
and H. J. Kaplan of thi.s office on January 16-17, 1991 at the Salem Generating
Station, Units 1*and 2, and on January 17-18, 1991 at the Hope Creek Station at
Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey.
The inspectors discussed the ~esults of the Salem
inspection with Mr. V. Polizi of your staff at the January 17, 19*91 exit
meeting, and the results of Hope Creek inspection with Mr. T. Spenser at the
January 18; 1991 exit meeting.
This inspection was directed at activities related to Water Chemistry Control
for both units of Salem and investigation of inservice inspection indications
at Hope Creek.
The areas examined are described in the NRC Region.I Report
which* is enclosed with thi~ letter. *Within these areas, the inspection
consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records,
interviews with personne 1, and observations by the inspectors.
Within the scope of this inspectio~, no violations were observed.
