SUBJECT:

RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 90-03 FOR SALEM, UNITS 1 AND 2, AND HOPE CREEK (TAC NOS. 76286, 76287, 76246)

On March 20, 1990, the NRC issued Generic Letter (GL) 90-03 "Relaxation of Staff Position in Generic Letter 83-28, Item 2.2 Part 2 'Vendor Interface for Safety-Related Components.'"

The GL requested that all licensees and applicants review their present vendor interface programs and modify them as necessary using the guidance supplied in the GL.

By letter dated September 24, 1990 and January 9, 1991, Public Service Electric and Gas Co. responded to GL 90-03 and indicated that the programs have been implemented in accordance with the guidance given in the GL.

The staff has reviewed your response and finds it acceptable.

This action closes TAC Nos. 76286, 76287, and 76246.
