Personnel directing and evaluating examinations under this procedure shall be qualified in accord-ance with the CB&I non-destructive testing Program

  • for Solution Film Testing, Absolute Pressure J.

Testing and Halogen Sniffer Testing.

Test Manifold:

Dial gauges and valves assembled as shovm in Sketch 1 of Supplement A for pressurizing and monitoring test channel zones.

Gauges shall have been calibrated no longer than 90 days prior to the start of testing.

The air hose used for pressurizing the test channels must be free of standing water. * -

  • 2.0 PROCEDURES:

2.1 Penetration Test Channels 2.1.1 Test channels for penetrations may be manifolded together for testing.

The number of penetrations manifolded together will be at the discretion

_ of the test personnel in order to perform an efficient and thorough job of leak testing..Caution must be exercised in making the test connections in the manifold assembly to eliminate leakage.

The testing ass*embly and the manifold assembly

2.2 Preliminary Testing 2.2.1 All welds that are to be covered with test channels shall be tested in accordance with a vacuum box test procedure or in accordance with a liquid pene-trant examination procedure for those welds which

2.5 Halogen sn1ffer Test

2.5.1 Close Valve "B".

There must be no detectable leakage in the test connections before pressuriz-ing with refrigerant to minimize contamination iii the testing area.

2.5.2 Open Valve "A" and pressurize the test channel with refrigerant to pressure* level P3, specified

  • in supplement A, and then close Valve "A".

2.5.3 *Open Valve "C" slowly and.raise the pressure to levei P2, specified in Supplement "A"

  • 2.5.4 Close:Valves "C" and "D" and' open Valve "B".
2. 5. 5 Test the -channel to liner plate weld. joints with a Halogen Leak Detector at a probe rate of. about 2-1/2 feet/minute. The probe nozzle must be-within 1/2" of th"e weld while. testing for leaks.*

The sensi ti vi ty of the leak detector shall be : _
